Levis & Cone Mills

This assignment was great! Levi’s asked me to design several parts of the celebration of the Golden Handshake between Levi Strauss & Co and Cone Mills. In 1915 the two made an agreement that Levi’s got exclusive use of the Shrink-to-Fit Denim, made by the prominent fabric manufacturer Cone Mills. This ‘Golden Handshake’ still exists and they are celebrating it’s 100 year anniversary. To celebrate I got the pleasure of designing a Levi’s bandana. They also wanted a special hangtag that would come with the styles specially sold for this celebration. The hangtag, inspired by a vintage Levi’s kids flyer, can fold up into a pair of jeans, and when unfolded there is some information about the Golden Handshake.
Another way Levi’s celebrated was by organizing a party in Tenue des Nîmes, a store in Amsterdam that carries a lot of great Denim products. I was honored to signpaint the stores window in gold as well as designing a print that I would hand screen print live during this event. It was a beautiful project that I’m proud to have been a part of and I had a lot of fun designing and executing so many different parts of this celebration.
